Family is Coming!!!

Ahhh, the holidays are upon us. Thanksgiving is quickly approaching and the smell of pies baking is adding pounds to my backside. Our Thanksgiving is quite hectic this year. My 96 year old grandmother hosts Thanksgiving (we take turns hosting different holidays) and so that she does not have to cook she will take us out to eat. We are going to a local restaraunt at 11 am with my family....then Jeff's Mom and family will be eating at our house at 1 pm. I am just hoping there will be some leftovers if I am hungry for dinner. Then on Friday morning Jeff's Dad and family with be having us over for brunch and my Mom has her family reunion at her house at 1 pm...Saturday the family reunion continues at my cousin's house with fried venison and karoke! Meanwhile back at our house Jeff's family may want to do something....

But while there might be some chaos and way too much eating it is a true blessing to have family. For all our imperfections we still love one another and can lay on the couch, rubbing our stomachs, watching football and listening to the sounds of kids laughing and playing.

As Paul Pearshall said, "Our most basic instinct is not for survival but for family. Most of us would give our own life for the survival of a family member, yet we lead our daily life too often as if we take our family for granted."
